Access IT Solutions announces availability of McKesson Practice Choice
McKesson's new product is a SaaS (software as a service) practice management and EHR solution for small independent medical offices
Miami, FL. July 31, 2012
— Access IT Solutions, LLC (AITS), the Miami-based IT consulting and services company specializing in medical practice automation, announced that their VAR business is certified to carry and service McKesson Practice Choice™, the new web-based medical practice management and electronic health record (EHR) solution by McKesson.
McKesson Practice Choice is a complete medical billing, scheduling and clinical solution featuring an attractive user interface, simple organization and navigation, and drag and drop functionality. This product is a web-based, SaaS (software as a service) practice management solution designed specifically for small independent physician settings.
"We have been preparing for the whole new era that is dawning on healthcare providers. Changes are huge, and some small independent practices feel overwhelmed by it all. In terms of healthcare IT, we have gone through Y2K and NPI —not without some trepidation, of course— but at the end we have all seen the benefits reflected on a more streamlined and efficient practice workflow," stated Fabio Meira, president at Access IT Solutions. "It will not be different with the current ANSI 5010 deadline by October 2013 and the mandatory EHR deadline by 2015. The key to success here is to look ahead, to do your research on the best feasible solutions for your practice and the best IT partner out there, and to make your choice. Server-based or cloud-based... there are options—and a best choice™
. This is what the new McKesson Practice Choice™ represents for the small independent providers who cannot or do not want to invest on a standalone EHR solution at this time: the best choice of a complete, fully integrated, very affordable web-based practice management and EHR solution."
McKesson Practice Choice™ has received Complete EHR certification - deeming the software capable of enabling providers to meet the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program, this McKesson EHR software is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
"In developing the McKesson Practice Choice, the company took the best features from their existing solutions and other familiar technology applications to create from scratch a brand-new system that will appeal to a constituency that tends to be underserved, yet represents a large percentage of providers today," said David Henriksen, vice president, McKesson's Physician Practice Solutions.
McKesson Practice Choice allows for simple navigation, with one-button access to all areas of the system, including scheduling and billing applications. The new solution offers improved office activity tracking, daily reports on claims submissions and the ability to enter patient and insurance information at the point of check-in. In addition, Clinical Quality Measures can be run at any time, so a practice can closely track its progress toward meaningful use.
Integration with RelayHealth, McKesson's connectivity business, provides secure messaging tools for patients and providers, as well as connectivity to support health information exchange. Integration with Provider Friendly Terminology™ from Health Language allows for simple code look-up by common associations or abbreviations versus the traditional form of memorizing billing codes.
